Meet Sarah Allison, PMHNP-BC

Sarah Allison is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of Every Thought Psychiatry. She can evaluate, diagnose, prescribe and provide psychotherapy, and she built her practice so that each of those can happen in the same unhurried relationship rather than being split across several offices.

Sarah was recently named Best Psychiatrist in The Woodlands, Texas. Patients describe the difference less in terms of awards and more in terms of time: visits long enough to tell the whole story, a clinician who reviews lab work line by line, and a plan that makes sense to the person living it.

Why “more than meds”

Medication can be life-changing, and Sarah prescribes it when it is the right tool. But mood, focus and anxiety are shaped by many forces at once: sleep, nutrition, thyroid and hormone health, nutrient status, genetics, relationships, faith and meaning, and the pace of daily life. Treating only the symptom often leaves those roots untouched.

Root-cause psychiatry asks why symptoms are showing up now. It weighs physical, biological, emotional and spiritual well-being together, so medication becomes one option on the table rather than the only one.

Who the practice serves

  • Busy professionals navigating executive burnout and high-functioning anxiety
  • Overwhelmed parents and caregivers running on empty
  • Teens ages 15+, including homeschoolers and high schoolers facing academic pressure
  • Individuals and families affected by substance use or relationship conflict
  • Adults who want to use the lowest effective dose, or to explore careful tapering

Why a cash-pay, direct-care model

Insurance-driven psychiatry often limits follow-ups to brief medication checks. A direct-care model lets visit length follow clinical need: 75 minutes to begin, then 25- or 50-minute follow-ups that can include therapy and lifestyle coaching. Pricing is posted openly, and superbills are provided for out-of-network reimbursement.

Frequently asked questions

Medication is an option, not the only option. Assessment considers physical, biological, emotional, and spiritual well-being rather than focusing only on a prescription. Treatment may include psychotherapy, lifestyle supports, selected labs, or targeted nutraceuticals when appropriate. The aim is a clinically grounded plan, not a promise to find one hidden cause for every symptom.

The initial evaluation is 75 minutes and costs $315. It includes medical, family, and lifestyle history, relevant lab review, and a personalized written roadmap. Bring medication and supplement lists, prior treatment information, and questions about what you want to change. An evaluation does not automatically mean starting medication or ordering tests.
